About | US |
The Hawaii’s Energy Future website is devoted to sharing the latest news, technologies and projects in the ongoing effort to reduce Hawaii’s dependence on imported oil and to achieve a preferred energy future.
Accomplishing this involves a four-part strategy that includes: energy conservation and efficiency; renewable energy; and new technologies such as distributed generation and central power plants that use the cleanest, greenest fuels possible.
This effort will require cooperation and support from everyone … landowners, businesses, government and our communities – not just the utilities.
Together, Hawaiian Electric Company, Maui Electric Company and Hawaii Electric Light Company supply electric power to more than 400,000 customers or 95% of the Hawaii population.*

*Electricity on Kauai is provided by Kauai Electric Utility Coop (KIUC). To learn more about KIUC’s plans, visit their website at www.kiuc.coop.
